The Devonshire Dome
The Devonshire Dome was built by in 1779 by John Carr for the 5th Duke of Devonshire it was built along with The Creascent. The dome provided facilities for up to 120 horses and accommodation for the servants of those staying in the The Crescent.
The Devonshire Dome is now part of the campus of the University of Derby in Buxton and Buxton College. The dome is open to visitors as well as students and is a must if visiting Buxton. Measuring over 150 feet in diameter. It was once the largest unsupported dome in the world, beating the Pantheon and St Peters in Rome.
The Dome houses a restaurant, cafe, Spa and regularly hosts various events and fairs.
